UK updates safety measures for COVID-19 positive people

The United Kingdom will be removing the legal requirement for self-isolation in case of a positive COVID-19 test result with effect from February 24. As per reports, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the updated measures in the parliament. The safety measures are being updated in line with the UK government's "living with COVID" plan.

"We will remove all remaining domestic restrictions in law. From this Thursday, the 24th of February, we will end the legal requirement to self isolate following a positive test," the Prime Minister told parliament.

He further advised people who test positive for COVID-19 to stay at home to maintain the safety and well-being of other people in society. People have also been urged to exercise personal responsibility in the ongoing efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Until 1st April we will still advise people who test positive to stay at home. But after that, we will encourage people with COVID-19 symptoms to exercise personal responsibility," Johnson added.
