The United Kingdom will be accepting the UAE's Alhosn app for entry into the country in line with the recent changes coming into effect from October 4. It will help people vaccinated with Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Janssen COVID-19 vaccines to enter the UK using the Al Hosn app. The announcement was made by the UK Embassy in the UAE on its Twitter page.
According to the tweet, COVID-19 vaccination and PCR test record 'Al Hosn' app of the UAE will be recognized at all entry ports of the UK.
In addition, vaccinations received from two different approved destinations will also be allowed for entry into the UK. For instance, an individual who took one vaccine dose in the UK and second in another country under the approved programme will be allowed to enter Britain. Approved vaccines include AstraZeneca, Covishield, Vaxzevria and Moderna Takeda. However, Sinopharm is currently not on the UK’s approved list of COVID-19 vaccines.
It is important for travellers to be fully-vaccinated at least 14 days before arriving in the UK.
Before the pandemic, the UAE-UK air route saw at least 7.7 million passengers travelling every year, the air route one of the most important trade routes.
Dubai International Airport, the world’s biggest by international traffic, has enlisted London as its number one destination. The Dubai-Heathrow route was termed the eighth busiest route globally in September by aviation specialist OAG.
Speaking with the media, stated that the UK-UAE route is going to see a significant rise in the number of passengers from October 4 as England will welcome fully-vaccinated UAE passengers without undergoing quarantine facilities.
Earlier in August, the UK the UAE to its amber travel list which boosted flight between the two countries to more than 30 percent of pre-pandemic levels.
