National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) spokesperson Dr Saif Al Dhaheri highlighted that the country is well-equipped to tackle the pandemic outbreak with the help of its proactive approach to the crisis from the beginning.
Addressing the UAE government's regular media briefing, Dr Al Dhaheri stressed that key sectors of the country including the economy, health services, tourism, education and aviation were hard hit by the pandemic crisis this year. He further added that the UAE's capabilities to address such challenges have contributed to mitigating its impact. Dr Al Dhaheri asserted that the UAE government's proactive approach has allowed the nation to go back to gradual normality.
"We are on the right track, we have taken the right steps. We must start planning for the final recovery. By recovery we mean we are able to fight the repercussions of Covid-19 and all disasters - to overcome these challenges and go back to normal life," he added.
While COVID-19 cases have been rising in recent months, the decision to implement the final recovery process was taken by the authorities in line with the encouraging recovery rate.
