As per a report in Al Arabia, the United Arab Emirates is moving towards becoming one of the first countries to vaccinate its entire eligible population. The UAE had started its vaccination program towards the end of last year by administering the senior citizens of the country on a priority basis.
A specialist regarding the matter also said that if the effort from the side of the UAE government continues further, it may soon become the first country to vaccinate its entire population, which means the same as reaching herd immunity.
The expert works at Bareen International Hospital Fouad told Al-Rahal told Al-Arabiya English while adding, “With the dedicated effort of the UAE government to combat the pandemic – for which we are truly thankful for, and the willingness of the general public to support the programs led by the government.”
They also asserted that progress will soon make UAE achieve herd immunity. The Our World released data revealing that the UAE has been ranked as one of the topmost countries administering covid-19 vaccines. The data was produced after a full-proof collaboration between researchers at the University of Oxford and a non-profit Global Change Data Lab.
It also revealed that the country has administered at least one of the vaccines shot among more than 60 percent of its population. The country has been ensuring regular vaccines to its population. The Gulf state’s National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority released data saying that over six million vaccines have been administered across all the seven emirates. The rate of inoculation in the country is 60.82 doses per 100 people.
Till now, the Emirati nation has approved four coronavirus vaccines. It has approved Chinese Sinopharm, US-German Pfizer-BioNTech, UK-Swedish Oxford-AstraZeneca, and Russian Sputnik V.
As per new reports, the cases of coronavirus are dropping. The hospitals have confirmed that on one hand the infection rates are dropping and recovery rates are on the rise. The officials expect people to continue to follow the strict covid-19 protocols even during Ramadan.
On Friday, the country registered 2,180 new cases and 2,321 recoveries, with 100,080 vaccine doses.
