With the support and cooperation of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), the Ministry of Community Development (MoCD) has been successfully carrying out the vaccination campaign for senior citizens across the UAE. The vaccination campaign against COVID-19 was launched by the UAE authorities on January 10. As of now, the vaccination campaign is underway in Dubai, Ajman, Um Al Qaiwain, Al Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah.
In Ras Al Khaimah, a team of professionals from both ministries carried out the vaccination campaign under which they administered the vaccine doses at the homes of all senior citizens in several areas across the emirate, including Dahan, Julphar, Al Rams, and Shaam.
Since its launch in January, the senior citizens' vaccination campaign has achieved great response from hundreds of elderly citizens. In line with its ongoing efforts, the campaign will continue to administer the vaccine to the maximum number of senior citizens across the UAE. These efforts are aimed at ensuring that the elderly population receives both the vaccine doses as per a timed schedule in order to protect them against the COVID-19 virus.
Speaking about the development, Hessa Tahlak, Assistant Undersecretary of Social Development at the Ministry of Community Development, said that the vaccination campaign was able to administer the COVID-19 vaccines to a large number of elderly citizens in several areas across the UAE with the help of a robust medical team working in various senior citizens centers in Ajman, Dubai, Al Fujairah, Dibba Al Fujairah, Um Al Qaiwain and Ras Al Khaimah. Hessa Tahlak further hailed the efforts of the Ministry of Health & Prevention to provide adequate COVID-19 vaccines to the medical team to inoculate senior citizens at their residences. The minister ensured the delivery of medical services and provision of COVID-19 vaccines to senior citizens who are the largest possible number of targeted groups and at high risk of getting infected.
In addition, the Ministry of Community Development expressed its keenness in promoting its partnership with relevant authorities to reach out to all priority groups and deliver the COVID-19 vaccines to them. The ministry aims to carry out these efforts in line with the instructions and guidance of the wise leadership of the UAE to provide necessary constituents to all members of the community and strengthen their wellbeing by mitigating COVID-19 repercussions and moving towards new normal.
Significantly, the senior citizens' vaccination campaign is aimed at addressing the most important and vulnerable groups to protect their health and safety and prevent complications of the disease. Noting that they are the most vulnerable to complications of COVID-19, a vaccine is the best way to protect them from the consequences of the virus to a great extent.
