New office set up to support UAE's front-line workers

In a significant development, the UAE has established a new office to acknowledge and support the efforts of the frontline workers in the long term as they continue to work for the welfare of the people of the country. The new office named as 'Frontline Heroes Office' will be chaired by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and will be headquartered in Abu Dhabi. Notably, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan issued a new Federal Decree No. 95 of 2020 for the development of the new office for supporting the workers.

The aim behind the initiative is to raise awareness about the paramount role played by the frontline workers in the UAE's fight against Coronavirus pandemic and other crises and emergencies that have affected the society. Furthermore, the Office will recognize the sacrifices made by the frontline workers in the process of their duties to the country and will be working on fulfilling their needs and priorities.

Reportedly, the frontline workers will be presented with rewards, certificates of appreciation, and even honorary medals for their exemplary works by the Office.

The Frontline Heroes Office will have its own identity along with financial and administrative independence in accordance with the decree. Furthermore, the office will also be defining the frontline workers and establishing the criteria used to identify them. Moreover, it will prepare and execute initiatives and strategies to support the workers in partnership with concerned authorities.

This development has come in the wake of the efforts taken by frontline workers including the medical professionals, police forces, and other relevant authorities in containing the spread of the pandemic outbreak in the UAE. Earlier, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also thanked and hailed the frontline workers for their continuous efforts in the UAE's fight against the pandemic.
