The UAE is on its way back to recovery as the Covid-19 pandemic s is slowly being contained and with this, the Emirati nation has stepped up for hosting major international events. The UAE is one of the first countries to be open for such events even as the pandemic still exists.

It is one of the reasons why the UAE has successfully brought back the momentum of conducting as well as executing international level events especially after a halt of nearly one and a half years since the coronavirus pandemic.

The country hosted events like IDEX & NAVDEX, Gulfood, and the much anticipated UAE Tour for cycling during the first quarter of 2021. The nuclear Barakah peaceful nuclear plant received an operating license during this time itself.

In February, the IDEX and NAVDEX were conducted in the country amid strict Covid-19 measures and drew nearly 900 exhibitors from around 52 countries. There were as many as 62,000 visitors in the country. The event clearly was a success and sent out a very positive message to the world that not only the world is going back to normal but also that the country is ready to host such large-scale events.

Other than this, another event Gulfood 2021 organized in Dubai. This was the first food and beverages show held since the epidemic broke out. This event included 2,500 companies from around the world along with 85 participating countries.

Another much-awaited event is the cycling event the Union Cycliste International(UCI) was also held in the UAE. It was a 1,045-kilometer race that was planned to be held in seven different stages. A total of 140 cyclists were present in the event representing 20 different international teams.

A photography competition called the international festival of photography(Xposure) was also conducted in Sharjah were 400 photographers participated submitting their entries of 1,558 photos from all of the Arab world as well as other countries. The photographs captured diverse moments of the world, which were shared through the experience of people.

A silver jubilee version of the ‘Dubai World Cup’ is also an upcoming event on the calendar of events for this year. The event will be held on March 27 and the event will see its transition by covering one of the most iconic tracks of a horse race in the world--Meydan Racecourse in Dubai.
