As part of the ongoing efforts to combat the Coronavirus pandemic, the UAE recently sent a second aid plane to Jordan to support the country's response against COVID-19. The aid consignment consisted of 15 metric tonnes of essential medical supplies and testing kits aimed at assisting the continuous efforts of approximately 15,000 medical professionals in Jordan towards combating the pandemic in the country.
Responding to aid delivery, Ahmed Ali Al Balushi, UAE Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, noted that the second aid shipment of emergency medical supplies confirms the crucial role played by the UAE in supporting other Arab countries amid the pandemic crisis. The medical aid supply further contributes to strengthening bilateral relations between the UAE and Jordan that is based on brotherhood, common interests, and one destiny, he added.
Significantly, the first aid plane carrying 12.4 tonnes of essential medical supplies was sent by the UAE to Jordan earlier in June to support the efforts of the frontline medical professionals in limiting the impact of the disease.
Al Balushi also expressed his hope that the second batch of medical aid will help in protecting Jordan's healthcare workers as they continuously work at the forefront in the fight against the global health crisis.
To date, the UAE has provided more than 1,485 metric tonnes of essential medical and food aid to 118 countries as part of its humanitarian response to the pandemic. The aid has supported more than 1.5 million medical professionals across the world in the process.
