The United Arab Emirates on Monday sent an aid place to Slovenia with the aim of supporting the country in its efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The aid shipment, containing 8 metric tons of medical supplies and testing equipment, will be assisting approximately 8,000 healthcare workers in Slovenia as they continue to work towards limiting the spread of COVID-19 virus.
Responding to the aid delivery, Ibrahim Salem Mohammed Al Mashrekh, UAE Ambassador to Austria and Non-Resident Ambassador to Slovenia, noted that the UAE and the Republic of Slovenia enjoy a strong and flourishing economic and trade relationship. He further stated that the leadership of both nations has ensured all significant efforts to facilitate the expansion of bilateral relations towards broader horizons and serve the developmental interests of both communities.
The aid shipment was sent in line with the UAE's humanitarian efforts to help and assist all brotherly and friendly countries in the ongoing fight against the COVID-19 crisis.
"The UAE leadership has been keen to contribute to supporting the health sector in Slovenia by providing the necessary medical supplies to deal with the pandemic, especially among frontline medical professionals," Al Mashrekh added.
To date, the UAE has provided more than 1,760 metric tons of medical and food aid to 129 countries as part of its humanitarian efforts in the global battle against the pandemic crisis. This medical aid has supported over 1.7 million medical professionals across the world in the process.
