UAE sends aid plane to Tunisia in response to COVID-19

The UAE on Tuesday sent an aid plane to Tunisia in a bid to support the country's fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. The aid plane carried 11 metric tons of medical supplies and ventilators with the aim to support the efforts of approximately 11,000 medical professionals in Tunisia as they work at the forefront to contain the spread of the virus.

The medical aid was sent in line with the efforts of the UAE leadership to support brotherly Aran nations during the critical circumstances.

Responding to the aid delivery, Rashed Mohammed Al Mansouri, UAE Ambassador to Tunisia, said that both countries have shared a common vision of development for decades. The UAE and Tunisia have been working together and exchanging experiences in a bid to enhance their strong bilateral relations and coordination in several areas of mutual interest.

He added that the medical aid plane was sent by the UAE to Tunisia to support the healthcare sector of the country and to contribute to boosting their capacities to address the pandemic crisis.

"The UAE is keen to provide support to brotherly countries in difficult circumstances in the region and worldwide as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak," Al Mansouri said.

So far, the UAE has provided close to 1600 metric tons of medical aid and supplies to 119 countries across the world in line with its humanitarian response to the COVID-19 crisis. UAE's medical aid has supported more than 1.5 million medical professionals in their efforts to combat the virus.
