The United Arab Emirates on Friday sent a fifth shipment of medical aid to Chechnya with the aim of assisting the country in the fight against COVID-19. The aid shipment contained 6 metric tons of medical supplies and testing equipment.
The UAE sent the aid shipment as a gesture of appreciation to assist approximately 6,000 healthcare workers of Chechnya as they battle the COVID-19 crisis at the forefront.
Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Ambassador to the Russian Federation, said that the UAE authorities operated an air bridge for emergency delivery of medical supplies with the aim of assisting the healthcare sector of Chechnya. Dr Al Jaber affirmed that the UAE's efforts to provide medical supplies to Chechnya reflect the strength of the relationship between the two countries. It also reflects UAE leadership's keenness to help and support all friendly nations in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic as it provided around 25.3 metric tons of medical assistance by using air bridge on four aircraft in recent months.
"The UAE hopes that this gift will enhance capacity among healthcare workers and provide them with additional protection," the ambassador added
So far, the UAE has provided over 1,742 metric tons of medical aid to 128 countries as part of its humanitarian efforts in the global battle against the COVID-19 crisis. The medical aid has assisted more than 1.7 million medical professionals across the world in the process.
