UAE Cabinet ministers take their oath before Mohammed bin Rashid

During a remote swearing-in ceremony, UAE’s cabinet ministers took their oath before Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This was after the new cabinet got approval from UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said in the ceremony that wise vision of UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is reflected by the UAE government. He further said that the country is now entering a new phase which is focused to prepare for the next 50 years towards development of the UAE.

“With the support of my brother His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the UAE government has been swift in responding to the new global changes. We are among the top countries in the world in terms of proactively responding to surrounding challenges, taking proper decisions and resetting our priorities,” said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed said at the ceremony, “The UAE has entered a new phase of effectiveness in the government work led by my brother Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. The UAE has always been proactive in dealing with transformations with creative thinking and forward-looking visions. My best wishes for the new government team that took the oath today to serve the UAE and its people.”

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid had announced earlier last week that there would be merging of ministries and departments as a part of the shuffle of UAE cabinet in direction of preparing for a more agile governance.

According to the new government structure there is closing of 50% of government service centers. They are now being transformed to digital platforms within two years. There is also a merger of around 50% of federal authorities and other ministries. Along with these there is appointment of new state ministers and CEOs in specialized sectors.

Country’s industrial sector would be developed by new ministries including Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. Ministry of Economy will have three newly appointed ministers. There would also be a new Minister of State for Digital Economy, Artificial Intelligence and Remote Work Applications as establishment of UAE Government Media Office is achieved.

Newly structured UAE Government includes formation of Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure through merger of Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Infrastructure, Ministry of Culture with merger of National Media Council (NMC) and Federal Youth Authority, merger of General Pension and Social Security Authority and Ministry of Community Development, merger of National Qualifications Authority and Ministry of Education, and merger of Securities and Commodities Authority and Insurance Authority.

The new UAE Government structure is as follows:
