The Vatican’s Congregation for Catholic Education has named Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the "Man of Humanity", highlighting the prominent humanitarian role played by the UAE in providing necessary aid and support to people in need globally.
On the sidelines of the honouring ceremony held on July 6, a number of officials and ambassadors spoke to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) underlining the humanitarian role of the UAE to assist various countries during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Officials and ambassadors said that the UAE has emerged as a leading model of humanitarian giving through the support it provided to several countries around the world in mitigating the impact of the pandemic. They hailed the efforts and initiatives launched by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed that have received global appreciation from various sections.
"The UAE’s humanitarian initiatives have bypassed its borders, as its relief efforts reached out to the Amazon during the peak of the pandemic," the officials said.
Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi, Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education, President of Pontifical Fondazione Gravissimum Educationis and Ministry of Education of the Vatican, praised Sheikh Mohamed as an inspiring model of global solidarity and his humanitarian efforts in reaching out to many countries in need to provide crucial aid and assistance.
He stated that the UAE's humanitarian initiatives have travelled across geographic borders. He further lauded UAE's keenness in donating food and medical aid to the Amazonian people in Peru in cooperation with the Vatican.
Dr. Tajeddine Seif, Ambassador of the Pontifical Fondazione Gravissimum Educationis in Abu Dhabi, highlighted that late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan established the UAE on the robust foundations of humanitarian giving.
Dr. Seif noted that under the directives and cooperation of Sheikh Mohamed, the UAE's humanitarian role has become an inspiring model for countries across the world. He shared the "Do not worry" phrase of Sheikh Mohamed that has positively motivated Emirati citizens and residents as well as the people of the world.
"The UAE was quick to send humanitarian aid to countries suffering from the pandemic’s repercussions, setting an outstanding example of solidarity through crises," he added.
Furthermore, the Acting Charge d'Affaires of the Moroccan Embassy in the UAE expressed proud in the efforts of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed that have facilitated the UAE's humanitarian role at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic.
