UAE residents can pay COVID-19 fines via MoI’s smart app

UAE authorities have warned that any violation of COVID-19 precautions can result in penalties

UAE authorities have announced that residents and companies fined for violating COVID-19 precautionary protocols can use the Ministry of Interior’s smart application to pay their penalties using their Emirates ID numbers, unified number, or passport numbers.

The ministry recently posted a video message on Twitter, informing residents that they can choose the COVID-19-related fine they wish to pay through the smart app. After filling necessary details, they can pay their fines without any hassles.

As per reports, the UAE authorities issued an extensive list of fines up to Dh50,000 for non-compliance with COVID-19 precautionary measures last year. These guidelines include mandatory wearing face masks in public, avoiding large gatherings and public meetings, avoiding holding public or private events, maintaining social distancing among others. Failure in compliance with these precautions and safety guidelines will result in fines and penalties approved by the authorities.

Since the introduction of these measures, thousands of residents and establishments have been fined for violating the safety protocols. In February 2021, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) said it closed down more than 350 commercial establishments across the emirate after they were found in violation of the COVID-19 measures.

Earlier, the UAE Public Prosecution introduced an online service to help residents and establishments to file appeals against the fines that were mistakenly imposed on them by authorities for non-compliance with precautionary measures.

Residents and establishments can visit the Public Prosecution website or download the UAE Public Prosecution app available on Google Play and App Store to submit their appeals.

Meanwhile, UAE authorities have called on all members of the community to adhere to COVID-19 precautions to limit the spread of the virus. They have stressed the importance of the role of community members and business owners to support the national efforts aimed at curtailing the pandemic in the country.
