The UAE has detected its first case of COVID-19 omicron variant. According to a statement made by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), the first Omicron case has been detected in an African woman who entered the UAE from an African country via an Arab nation. The ministry also noted that the detected case is fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in line with the approved health protocols implemented by the UAE authorities.
The MoHAP underlined that the infected case has been kept under examination and isolation with people coming in contact with her. The patient is showing no symptoms of the disease and the authorities are ensuring all measures to enhance the protection against the illness.
The Ministry has affirmed that the health sector is ensuring various COVID-19 precautionary measures including stringent inspection and necessary testing to curb the impact of the variants.
Meanwhile, the ministry has reiterated the importance of taking the COVID-19 vaccination, including the booster dose to enhance immunity and protection against the disease. The ministry has also called on the community members to continue compliance with safety measures to limit the spread of the COVID-19 variants.
