On the occasion of Ramadan, Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) has pledged financial support of Dh7.6 million to support patients facing financial difficulties in their treatment. The initiative has been announced by DIB in association with several other philanthropic organisations.
A ceremony was held at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) headquarters to acknowledge the magnanimous gesture displayed by many community members. Addressing the ceremony, Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director-General of DHA, expressed gratitude to DIB and other organisations for contributing to the country's efforts to alleviate the sufferings of the underprivileged.
The reception ceremony was attended by various dignitaries including Salem bin Lahej, director of the Health Fund Office of DHA; Musa Tariq Khoury, head of Sharia management at DIB; and Nawaf Abdullah Al Raisi, assistant vice-president and director of Community Support Services Unit at the bank.
Financial assistance for poor patients
Al Ketbi lauded Dubai Islamic Bank as one of the most important banking fortresses in the country, noting that it plays a crucial role in supporting the national economy.
"Its partnership with DHA is directly aimed at serving and developing society," Al Ketbi added.
The donations will be used to provide financial support to patients at the Thalassaemia Centre, cancer patients and heart patients.
Furthermore, the management of DIB expressed their happiness to partner with leading organisations to ease the financial burden on patients and their families. DIB also praised significant initiatives and efforts undertaken by the Health Fund Office to support and assist patients with critical illnesses. These efforts are aimed at providing financial assistance to the underprivileged through partnerships with various banks and charitable institutions across the country.
Prominent role of the bank
In a special word of praise for DIB, Bin Lahej said that the bank has always been at the forefront, taking the initiative to support charitable and humanitarian work in the healthcare sector in the UAE. He went on to underline that the ongoing financial support would significantly help the underprivileged patients in reducing the pressure and burden on them and their families.
He also affirmed that the DHA has continuously followed approved procedures to help and support patients facing financial difficulties to ensure that they receive the assistance they deserve from the administration.
