Uae Opens New Covid 19 Lab In Sharjah To Combat Pandemic Spread

Sharjah authorities have opened a new 24/7 lab to carry out Coronavirus-related analysis and investigations as well as other research about harmful microorganisms. The newly-opened Sharjah Central Laboratory at the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Specialised Field Hospital in Al Zahia area will boost Sharjah’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

 The lab was inaugurated by Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Head of the Local Emergency Management Team in the presence of several senior officials of the Sharjah government.

Specialised services

 

The round-the-clock laboratory specialised in analysing PCR samples as part of the efforts against COVID-19. The lab marks an important addition to Sharjah’s health sector and for the northern emirates to investigate and monitor the developments in Coronavirus. Furthermore, the lab works on all types of clinical, bacterial and biological analysis.

 

Addressing the opening ceremony, Major Gen Al Shamsi hailed the modern and advanced features of the laboratory in accordance with the highest safety and quality standards. These features will ensure the protection of health and well-being of all community members across Sharjah, underlining that is the top priority in line with the directions issued by UAE’s wise leadership.

 

In his address, Major Gen Al Shamsi also praised the partnership with Tamouh Healthcare and efforts made by the entire to ensure timely completion of the lab.

The opening of the lab took place in accordance with the directives issued by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and directly under the guidance of Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor.
