The UAE has launched the Riayati platform as a national medical records database with the aim of providing a world-class healthcare system in the country.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention has partnered with the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, Emirates Health Services and Dubai Health Authority to develop the medical records platform.
According to the authorities, the database will be initially linked to Wareed, the electronic medical records system of Emirates Health Services in Dubai and the Northern Emirates as well as Nabidh, the health information network of the Dubai Health Authority.
Medical records of patients across the Emirates will be unified to enhance patient care and make the provision of services more responsive and efficient.
Riayati platform has been established under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. Abdulrahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention and Minister of State for FNC Affairs, added that the Riayati central system has been launched in line with the UAE's strategic directions to develop the healthcare sector and improve the monitoring and management of patients' medical treatment.
In the second phase, the authorities will work towards aligning the medical platform with the Department of Health Abu Dhabi.
Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed, chairman of the Department of Health, expressed the DoH's commitment towards providing a world-class healthcare system while laying the key foundations for its success, such as a unified E-healthcare system. These efforts are being taken in line with the directives and forward-looking vision of the wise leadership of the UAE.
"By drawing on the sophisticated infrastructure, high-calibre staff, as well as utilising innovation and digital transformation, efforts will be united to provide s unified E-healthcare system, thus optimising the patient experience, improving therapeutic services, and enhancing the UAE's status in the global health arena," Al Hamed added.
As part of the second phase of the project, the Health Ministry has joined hands with the Department of Health to exchange data and information between Riayati and the Malaffi platform.
Launched in 2018, Malaffi has become one of the world's fastest-growing healthcare information exchange systems. Malaffi means “my file” in English. It was launched after rigorous consultation with healthcare providers to enhance the provision of medical treatments and services to people across the region. It further aims to ease doctors' access to hundreds of thousands of patient files to strengthen prescription and diagnosis in key areas.
Jamal Al Kaabi, under-secretary of the Department of Health, thanked the directives and unwavering support of the UAE's wise leadership which helped the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in continuously strengthening its position as a global model in terms of leveraging technology and leading the digital transformation in the healthcare sector.
Soon, patients will also be able to use the e-portal of the unified health record and access information related to their medical records.
