The Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation has launched the UAE Innovates 2021 award with the aim of felicitating innovative ideas that have assisted in the country’s fight against COVID-19 pandemic. The award also reflects the UAE government’s commitment to support and promote the implementation of unique, innovative solutions in the national efforts to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Huda Al Hashimi, Chief of innovation and government strategy, expressed UAE government’s keenness in adopting innovative ideas in different sectors across the country in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The greater goal of implementing innovative solutions is to build a better future for the community.
“The event, which coincides with the country’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, carries immense significance because the UAE is preparing for a new phase towards shaping the future,” Al Hashimi said.
Taking note of the unprecedented repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for new and innovative has increased in order to address future challenges. “Governments that embrace innovation and agility are better able to respond and cope with global challenges,” Al Hashimi added.
UAE Innovates 2021 will take place with a new vision through physical and virtual events across the country with the distribution of awards at Expo: Terra — The Sustainability Pavilion on February 25.
As part of the initiative, MBRCGI will felicitate local and federal government entities that developed and implemented innovative projects and solutions to tackle the pandemic crisis. The award categories honouring innovative ideas in the government sector include: Novelty in Innovation, Replicable Innovation, Most impact Innovation, and Fastest Implemented Innovation.
