UAE's Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has announced the launch of two new Coronavirus testing centres in the northern emirate of Fujairah. According to a report by the official Emirates News Agency (WAM), the two centres are located in "Om Dibba" and the Fujairah Exhibition Centre in Fujairah emirate.
Represented by the Fujairah Medical Zone, the two centres are set to boost the extensive COVID-19 testing capabilities of the United Arab Emirates as the Ministry of Health takes efforts in carrying out more than 40,000 tests every 24 hours.
Under the directives of Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, the centres will carry out free Coronavirus tests for citizens and residents of the UAE. Significantly, the centres were launched in coordination with the Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Team in the Fujairah emirate along with the support of the Fujairah Foundation for Region Development and the Fujairah Police.
One of the UAE’s seven emirates, Fujairah had earlier launched a drive-thru testing centre to boost the country's efforts to tackle the Coronavirus outbreak in April.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention has worked in coordination with the Fujairah Government to launch the free testing centres. The ministry has also supplied the government with essential equipment and technologies along with highly skilled medical and administrative professionals from the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) to help the citizens and residents amid the global health crisis.
