The UAE and Greece have established a safe travel corridor between the two countries for fully vaccinated individuals. The decision was made in line with the promising cooperation and coordination between the UAE and Greece and to move forward towards dynamic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. It also facilitates mutual recognition of vaccination certificates issued by the health authorities in the two friendly nations.
While the safe travel corridor is effective immediately in Greece, it will come into force in the UAE from May 18, 2021. The quarantine-free travel corridor will allow ease of travel for vaccinated individuals holding vaccination certificates without the need for following mandatory quarantine requirements upon arrival. However, all individuals are required to follow other COVID-19-related precautionary measures implemented by the two countries to ensure safe and secure travel for everyone.
The move stresses the keenness of the leadership of the UAE and Greece to facilitate the travel of individuals and promote tourism between the two countries. It will also help in achieving the objective of ongoing vaccination campaigns in the two countries. It is important to note that both the UAE and Greece's vaccination campaigns are going successfully to promote the health and safety of the community and curb the virus spread.
According to the new guidelines, citizens and residents seeking to avail benefits from the quarantine-free travel corridor between the UAE and Greece in both countries are required to present documentation that they have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. They must present approved vaccination applications or certificates issued by the health authorities of their respective country. Travelers can also present their COVID-19 PCR test results from any approved laboratory through these applications.
The strategic cooperation and partnership between the UAE and Greece are of significant importance in view of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It further supports the efforts of the healthcare authorities of the two countries in combating the global health crisis.
