UAE Goes Ahead With Developmental Projects in Africa

Moving ahead with their effort to help the developing nations most affected by Covid-19 and civil war, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), has now stepped into helping the Comoros Islands. These islands form an archipelago of volcanic islands at the southeastern coast of Africa.

A delegation recently visited the islands to inspect the work in progress for various developmental projects that are supporting the health and education sectors.

These projects have been spearheaded by ERC to see through much needed development and reconstruction of Comoros. The friendly intervention also intends to foster the UAE’s effort to rehabilitate and provide the necessary services for the people in Comoros.

The UAE has been committed to reaching out to the most needing apart from caring for its own.  Their projects include the construction of 12 schools in the Grande Comore and Anjouan Islands, in addition to building a motherhood and childhood centre on the island of Mohéli, with a completion rate of about 95 per cent that will be opened soon.

These projects are the first phase of various projects that come within the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, to provide developmental and humanitarian support in Comoros.

According to the ERC Secretary General, Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, “The leadership working on the projects is on the lookout for those projects that are primarily related to improving the lives of underprivileged groups and segments. While speaking to the media, Falahi noted that health projects would contribute to improving medical and therapeutic services for the local population.
