Noting that dumping of used face masks and gloves on roads and streets can pose hazardous health and environmental risks on the community as a whole, the Abu Dhabi Police has urged the residents to avoid doing so.
In a statement, the Abu Dhabi Police has also warned that dumping of wastes on the roads is a punishable offense and the violators will face a Dh1,000 fine and six traffic points.
"Throwing wastes from vehicles on the road is a violation punishable by a Dh1,000 fine and six traffic points," the ADP said in an awareness message on Twitter.
In a bid to contain the spread of the virus, the authorities have issued several precautionary measures which state that it is mandatory for people to wear face masks in public places, at the office and when in a car with more than one occupant.
The police underlined that some people throw used masks and gloves out of the car windows on the roads which violate the traffic laws. Health authorities have recommended the public to dispose of used masks and gloves properly in waste bins in a bid to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
