The UAE Wednesday recorded its lowest daily COVID-19 infections with 1,538 new cases. As per the figures, the UAE is witnessing decreasing daily COVID-19 infections for three days in a row.
During the 24 hour period, 2,457 people recovered from the COVID-19 illness. The number of active cases has also decreased to 68,923.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 in the UAE, authorities have recorded a total of 862,514 COVID-19 cases, while a total of 791,318 people have recovered from the disease.
UAE authorities have conducted an additional 477,945 PCR tests to ensure detection of infections and maintaining the health and wellbeing of the community.
To date, the authorities have conducted more than 129.5 million tests in the country.
The health sector has expanded its testing capacity with the number of tests conducted per day exceeding 400,000 this year. UAE's pandemic recovery strategy has prioritised mass testing and robust vaccination campaign to protect the community from the virus.
Earlier this week, Abu Dhabi begun the administration of fourth dose of Pfizer-BioNTech or Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine to eligible community members to enhance their immunity against the virus.
According to guidelines issued by the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, people who received three doses of either of these vaccines or a combination of the two are eligible to take an additional dose after six months.
Since the start of the vaccination campaign in December 2020, UAE authorities have administered more than 23.7 million vaccine doses to the public. As of now, about 95 per cent of the UAE's eligible population is fully immunised against COVID-19.
