Abdullah bin Zayed, Chile's FM discuss efforts to contain COVID-19

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, recently held a telephonic conversation with Andrés Allamand Zavala, the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile. During the phone call, the two ministers held talks on various ways of enhancing ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Furthermore, Sheikh Abdullah congratulated Zavala and granted best wishes for his new post.

They held discussions on an array of regional and global issues of mutual interest. In addition, they reviewed the latest development in the fight against COVID-19 crisis in both countries and cooperative and coordinated efforts taken by their leadership in containing the impact of the pandemic at the regional and national level.

Both ministers laid emphasis on the need to enhance international cooperation and coordination to mitigate the repercussions of the pandemic, affirming the significance of supporting global research efforts for the development of an effective vaccine against COVID-19.

On his part, Sheikh Abdullah hailed the illustrious relations between the UAE and Chile, highlighting the progressing relations in key areas of cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Adding to his remarks, the Chilean foreign minister thanked the UAE leadership for extending medical aid to his country in the fight against the COVID-19, further expressing his country's desire for strengthening cooperation with the UAE on various fronts.
