The United Arab Emirates has overtaken Seychelles to become the most vaccinated nation in the world, according to Bloomberg's Vaccine Tracker. The UAE is leading globally in terms of its vaccination drive by inoculating more than 72 percent of its population.

Since the launch of its vaccination drive last year, the UAE has administered more than 15.5 million vaccine doses, covering 72.1 percent of its total population under the two-dose regimen.

In addition, the UAE has tested more people per capita than most nations across the globe. Furthermore, the country has reported one of the lowest fatality rates in the world.

Minister of Health and Prevention Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais issued a statement, noting that the new global achievement adds to the country’s success in proactively and effectively addressing the COVID-19 pandemic. The minister stated that the international recognition is the success of the National Vaccination Campaign which continues to achieve its objectives to protect community members.

"The proactive vision of the country’s leadership enabled us to address the challenges posed by COVID-19. Today, the UAE is the world’s most vaccinated country," he added.

He underlined the remarkable efforts of the UAE's health sector which continues to provide diverse types of vaccines to all sections of the community. He hailed the community's awareness about the importance of vaccination in curbing the spread of the virus.

Al Owais highlighted that the National Vaccination Campaign continues to vaccinate all eligible people across all emirates, along with ensuring public compliance with relevant precautionary measures. He noted that public adherence to COVID-19 precautions represents the foundations of the UAE's national efforts aimed at facilitating the return to normalcy and achieving post-pandemic recovery.

"Medical teams and front-liners are working as one team, upon the directives of the UAE’s leadership, to achieve recovery from the pandemic," he noted.

The minister further affirmed that the UAE is a unique global model that achieved success in curbing the COVID-19 pandemic and received international appreciation. The success in overcoming the pandemic was possible with the help of the community’s confidence in the precautionary measures adopted by the UAE Government.

In this regard, he stressed the importance of the community’s awareness as well as compliance with precautionary measures to maintain the accomplishments achieved by the UAE so far and protect everyone against the disease.
