The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) on Friday announced that it has administered 53,859 COVID-19 vaccines across the country in the past 24 hours. With the latest figure, the total number of COVID-19 shots throughout the UAE has increased to 941,556. The MoHAP is making all possible efforts to administer COVID-19 vaccines in various regions with the aim of inoculating more than 50 percent of the nation's population against the disease in the first quarter of 2021.

Last month, the MoHAP, in coordination with relevant health authorities, launched a nationwide campaign to encourage people to get the COVID-19 vaccine in order to contain the spread of the virus. In this regard, the ministry has particularly encouraged the elderly and people with chronic diseases to get vaccinated for the welfare of their health against the COVID-19 disease.
