The UAE achieved top position in the Arab region and third among 27 emerging economies in the Future Readiness Index report. Curated by the Portulans Institute and Google, the report is a tool to measure future readiness of countries across the world and serve as a guide to support their policy decisions.
The institutions announced the results of the Index during a virtual session titled “Innovative Tools to Improve a Digital Future”, that took place as part of the Concordia Annual Summit 2021.
The index measures the performances of emerging countries on the basis of four ‘pillars’ - Institutions and infrastructure, technology, talent, and innovation. These main pillars include 15 sub-pillars that helps in monitoring the capacity and preparedness of world governments for the future, embracing digital transformation, investing in human capital, attracting talent, investing in research and development, among others.
In comparison with the 27 emerging economies on the index, the UAE achieved leading positions in all four main pillars. It ranked second in both institutions and infrastructure and talent pillars along with securing the third position in technology and fourth rank in innovation criteria.
