On Saturday, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health (DoH) and the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), launched the UAE’s first drive-through testing facility for the Coronavirus as part of the country’s efforts to contain the outbreak.
Located in the capital, UAE citizens and residents can be tested within five minutes, and receive their results within six hours through SMS and the SEHA app.
This centre makes the UAE the fifth nation in the world to implement a drive-through service, accelerating testing times for the nation’s population, according to the UAE’s official news agency WAM.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, inaugurated the drive-through COVID-19 test centre.
“Medical teams out in the field are the first line of protection of the UAE, their sacrifices safeguard our health,” tweeted His Highness.
The centre, which can conduct up to 600 tests per day, will operate from 8am-8pm daily, with four lanes for vehicles. If you’re planning to visit, begin by calling Istijaba Centre on 8001717 and taking an appointment. You will then participate in a pre-assessment screening and answer some questions related to your condition.
