Smart Dubai’s advanced digital programmes played a crucial role during pandemic by facilitating government entities to offer constant e-services. These e-services enabled employees to continue performing their everyday tasks without any interruptions as the country was under lockdown leading to remote working.
Smart Dubai’s Messaging and Collaborations Department has revealed that it enabled 62 government entities to use its online services for communication among employees during the pandemic, thus ensuring business continuity.
Smart Dubai’s Government Information Network’s (GIN) capacity was increased by 300% during the pandemic and lockdown, multiplying its speed by three to meet the growing demand for digital services from multiple Dubai Government entities. The Network enabled 322,000 meetings, 223,000 group calls, 962,000 individual calls, and 5 million text messages between March and October 2020.
Wesam Lootah, CEO of the Smart Dubai Government Establishment, said, “Smart Dubai has been designing effective strategies and services for years to build an integrated and sustainable digital government ecosystem. These services played a significant role in ensuring business continuity during the Covid-19 outbreak. Dubai Government employees were able to maintain their outstanding performance, seamlessly offering government services through digital platforms and programmes during the remote work period.”

Smart Dubai’s Government Information Network (GIN) is the foundation of Dubai Government’s digital infrastructure which connects multiple entities, allows them to securely transfer and exchange data, and protects them from errors and outside interference. This ensured smooth operations of these entities during pandemic, while ensuring high performance standards.
