Sharjah announces in-person classes 2021-22 academic year

Sharjah authorities took the decision after ensuring the safety of all schools and teachers

Sharjah authorities have announced the resumption of on-site classes in schools and educational institutions for the next academic year (2021-22). Issuing a statement, the Sharjah Private Education Authority noted that the decision was taken after ensuring all safety measures are implemented across schools in the emirate. The authorities reviewed that a vast majority of teaching and administrative staff in the Emirate have been vaccinated against COVID-19 before taking the decision.

The Authority has underlined schools and institutions have taken various necessary measures to provide a healthy and safe environment to both students and teachers during in-person classes.

At the same time, Sharjah authorities have been working to develop a well-studied mechanism that will help schools in resuming on-campus classes after ensuring the successful implementation of necessary safety protocols.

As per media reports, Sharjah authorities have conducted more than 2,000 inspections across schools in the Emirate since September 2020 to ensure adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols.

Earlier, the Sharjah Private Education Authority launched an electronic platform to monitor COVID-19 infections in educational institutions on a daily basis.

Speaking about the development, Muhaditha Al Hashimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Private Education Authority, affirmed that a number of quality ideas and initiatives have helped in the success of the education system for both in-person and remote learning, particularly during the pandemic. Innovative ideas have also helped the authorities in taking the decision to return to the on-site education model in the emirate.
