Dr. Saif Al Dhaheri, the official spokesperson for National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority stressed on the importance of community commitment to ensure tackling of coronavirus crisis effectively and to preserve the positive achievements by UAE in curbing the Covid-19 pandemic.
In his statement to Emirates News Agency, WAM, Dr. Al Dhaheri said that in order to tackle the crisis duration in the country and to reach stage of “zero infections” the collective responsibility of all the citizens and residents is of crucial importance. He said that by adhering to the preventive and precautionary measures and guidelines set by authorities we can beat this pandemic. He further said that any lax in following these guidelines can hamper all the progress made in last few months and we might return back to the starting point in worst case scenario. In view of this campaign “We Commit to Victory” has been launched by National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management and Authority in country. He said that through this he has “renewed the community’s call to adhere to preventive measures and assume self-responsibility in facing the Corona virus and limiting its repercussions.”
He elaborated that people must not try to resume the daily activities and not following the preventive measures with aim to return to normal life, as this doesn’t mean that we are safe from the virus. He added that model of other countries shows us that even small measures complacency can lead to bigger results.
The prime objective of “Commit to Victory” campaign is to raise awareness regarding society’s commitment to follow preventive measures regarding Covid-19 and to emphasize the individual responsibility in doing so.
The campaign also calls for ensuring that achievements made so far are preserved, especially since the UAE’s efforts to tackle the Covid-19 virus have been successful. The extent of the communities’ commitment to ensure preserving of these achievements is the focus of the campaign. The campaign stresses on the community integration and the solidarity of people with the efforts taken by government to curb the spread of Covid-19. This was a prominent aspect to overcome the movement restriction and move to return to normal life.
The campaign showcases the value and role played by the inherent values of the people of the UAE. It is laid on the sense of responsibility of people, education and solidarity to make government’s efforts a success, while strengthening the amalgamation of values of tolerance and solidarity. The campaign highlights the concept of strategic balance. This is achieved by stressing that the return to normal life and the gradual reopening are aimed to establish a strategic balance between the health sector and the economic sector. Furthermore, the various facilities also aim to achieve a balance in society to help people and also support other essential sectors to help create balance of things essential to society. The crucial emphasis is on the fact that virus has not gone anywhere yet and hence the priority must remain on the health and safety of communities.
The campaign lays special affirmation and relays that the UAE’s leadership is betting on the awareness of society of the country regarding commitment at individual level for following the instructions and guidelines issued by authorities to help tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
