The UAE has announced the beginning of the movement of citizens of the Sultanate of Oman through land ports at the state level from November 16, Monday. With the support and directives of UAE's wise leadership, the decision was cooperatively taken by the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Federal Authority For Identity And Citizenship (ICA).
The systematic response plan was made to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in a bid to ensure continuity of business activities and facilitate the recovery and restoration of economic growth within a record period.
The three authorities issued a joint statement, notifying that citizens of Oman are exempted from the requirement of prior approval to enter the UAE through land ports.
However, Omani citizens are mandated to present a negative PCR test result for COVID-19 from an accredited laboratory in their country, adding that the test is conducted within 48 hours from the date of travel. In addition, they will be required to undergo a COVID-19 test upon their arrival at the ports. They will be required to follow all relevant preventive and precautionary measures issued by the authorities with the aim to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus. They are also mandated to install the Al Hosn application on their smartphones. In addition, they will have to conduct a mandatory PCR test on the fourth day of their stay, if they have stayed in the UAE for four consecutive days.
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship also underlined that visitors will have to follow all quarantine procedures after entering the country in accordance with local protocols followed in different emirates. According to international rules and regulations, if a visitor tests positive in the test at the port, further entry in the emirate will be denied.
