The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has called on UAE citizens and residents to continue adherence with COVID-19 precautionary measures as well as ensure regular PCR testing and timely vaccination in order to facilitate rapid return to normalcy in the country. This announcement has come in line with the historic opening of the Expo 2020 Dubai.
Addressing its weekly media briefing, the NCEMA also urged the public to confirm the accuracy and reliability of COVID-19-related news and information circulated on social media. In this regard, the Authority stressed on community members to obtain their information from official accredited sources to avoid legal liability. The NCEMA further highlighted that the health sector continues to put all possible efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
“The spread of misinformation and rumours is damaging, as it hinders the country’s efforts to recover across different sectors," the Authority stressed.
The NCEMA added that relevant protocols, information and updates related to the pandemic are being shared by various entities through official platforms. To boost the fight against COVID-19, the UAE has ensured to maintain transparency and integrity in raising awareness about protocols and relevant information through government media briefing and official media channels.
In addition, the authority confirmed that all vaccine-related information, including booster doses and eligibility, are announced in accordance with the findings of the studies
conducted by medical professionals with high-level of transparency to keep people well-informed and updated about the developments.
With the Expo 2020 Dubai launching in the emirate, the NCEMA hailed the UAE's proactive approach and preparedness in managing large-scale global events while ensuring safety and full protection for all visitors and tourists. The Authority also congratulated the UAE leadership and Emirati people for organising the world's biggest event "Expo 2020 Dubai".
"It proves the UAE’s capability of hosting large-scale events following the implementation of the best health practices,” NCEMA added.
