On Saturday, the UAE’s National Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), denied the authenticity of news regarding the death of five members of one family as a result of COVID-19. It turned out that the death report, which was making the rounds on television and social media platforms, was fake.
The government authorities would be taking legal route to prevent such rumours from floating around. For now, the case has been referred to the Federal Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Prosecution in order to take the required legal action in coordination with the authorities concerned.
