UAE and Tunisian leaderships discussed ways to enhance cooperation against common challenges

Under the leadership and directives of Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the UAE has dispatched 500,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Tunisia to help the country's health sector in its efforts to overcome the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, Sheikh Mohammed received a telephone call from Tunisian President Kais Saied. During the conversation, they discussed bilateral relations between the two brotherly nations and ways to strengthen cooperation across key areas of mutual cooperation.

They also discussed the latest developments in the fight against COVID-19 and its health, social, and humanitarian impacts on communities across the world.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the UAE’s keenness to support Tunisia in its ongoing efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also prayed for the health and safety of the Tunisian people during the pandemic.

The North African Arab country is witnessing a surge in daily new COVID-19 infections and death tolls. The Tunisian government has been struggling to overcome the impact of the pandemic. Since the outbreak, the pandemic has put a severe strain on Tunisia's healthcare system with depleting oxygen and other medical supplies.

With the medical aid, the UAE is aiming to help Tunisia in minimising the impact of the virus on the health sector and community members.
