A national platform is being launched by the Ministry of Energy and Industry that would be used to help enterprises and businesses showcase their products and equipment to help in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The products are to be listed in the digital platform related to the industrial sector in UAE. This was previously launched by each of the seven emirate’s Department of Economic Development (DED) in coordination with members of the Industrial Coordination Council.

Ministry of Energy and Industry’s Suhail Al Mazrouei explained that the platform is established to support healthcare system in the UAE. He has urged national businesses to register their products related to Covid-19 platform in the digital platform. He also lauded the flexibility and cooperation displayed by the national businesses and manufacturers for re-designing of the production lines and increasing their production capacities to meet the demands during crisis. This greatly helped in sustainability and availability of products.

The unified database is going to be helpful for businesses and products to enhance their readiness in case of any future crisis.

Eng. Sharif Salim Al Olama, Under-secretary of Ministry of Energy and Industry said that this pandemic has opened up great challenges to the industrial sector globally, leading the manufacturers to change their strategic priorities regarding production of medical equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) with soared demands.

He further stressed how important it is to increase production capacities of national manufacturers in UAE to help meet the demand locally as well as continue extending support to international supply chains with the essential aid.

Eng. Osama Amir, Assistant Under-secretary for Industrial Affairs elaborated that the first phase of platform will make a database of products available to buyers and decision makers that are essential in fighting the pandemic, along with contact details of the manufacturers. Once completed, the platform will also display the production capacity information and a link between buyers and manufacturers, both nationally and internationally.

UAE Makes platform, the digital portal for country’s industrial sector, will host the Covid-19 products directory. The UAE Makes platform provides communication opportunity to investors and entrepreneurs with any national industrial ecosystem party.

The UAE aims to attract industrial sector investments and facilitate decision-making through a comprehensive and well-oiled system of policies, information, regulations and procedures for national level industrial licenses.
