Dubai’s compliance team is working round the clock to ensure that hygiene and Covid-19 safety standards are being maintained across the cities. In this regard, the field inspection teams from the Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector in Dubai Economy recently conducted 728 visits. They went into open markets and shopping centres across the emirate.

They did not shy away from imposing fines on seven commercial establishments. Of these, six of them were found negligent in the employee aspect where they showed a general lack of commitment in wearing masks, and one, for not adhering to physical distancing measures. 

The violations were spotted in establishments distributed in a number of shopping centres, as well as Al Murar, Al-Daghaya, Riggat Al Buteen, and their activities included retailing, sewing and embroidery, and perfume trade. Most of these could need heavy manpower needs and therefore social distancing and mask usage is of paramount importance.

According to guidelines specified, establishments are required to place physical distancing stickers in their premises as ready reminders to staff and customers. The field inspection teams had to warn one commercial establishment for not placing such physical distancing stickers. But the good news was that on a whole, inspections done found out that almost 720 commercial establishments were fully complying with the precautionary measures.

Worldwide, the only way seen as the best measure to contain the virus from spreading is by maintaining hygiene standards and compliance with other precautionary guidelines too.

Dubai Economy has called on everyone to cooperate and contribute to keeping the emirate’s economy moving forward in spite of the pandemic threat. Robust compliance standard in place has contributed greatly in the gradual return to normal and safe commercial activity, eventually leading to the opening of all sectors and the economic reset in Dubai.

It has been stated that Dubai Economy is going to take stern action against any non-compliance found during the inspections or that may be reported by consumers and the public.
