Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) have launched home vaccination drive for senior citizens against Covid-19. The programme is in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
Through the initiative it is ensured that all the seniors in the emirate receive vaccination who aren’t able to visit medical centres for the same. As of February 6, the UAE has so far vaccinated over 4.2 million people with the Covid-19 vaccine with a distribution rate of 42.48 doses per every 100 people, making it one of the highest in the world.
DHA said that all senior citizens who are registered under the CDA will receive the Covid-19 vaccine at homes. The campaign is specially focusing on people with comorbidity and the individuals at high risk of developing complication from Covid-19. Other senior citizens will also receive the vaccine.
The campaign has put on priority senior citizens living alone in Dubai, registered in the CDA’s ‘Live’ home care programme and people who possess the ‘Thukher’ card.
The CDA said the initiative reflects the efforts of giving high priority to vulnerable sections of the community and extending the best medical care to senior citizens and thus ensuring them with quality of life.
Approximately 8,000 senior citizens will be inoculated during first phase of the campaign, according to the CDA.
