The Higher Committee of Human Fraternity held its ninth periodical meeting virtually to review various HCHF’s projects and discuss future plans with aim to execute its principles, along with its plans in relation to recent global developments on grounds of humanitarian issues.
HCHF members stressed importance of joint action to respond to the global crisis due to the escalation of hate speech, discrimination, and using religion as a justification for violence, leading to destabilizing od world peace. The members also stressed on importance of differentiating between terrorist crimes being carried in the name of religions, and the religions that reject violence and insulting others.
HCHF members lauded the extraordinary scientific efforts underway for development of Covid-19 vaccines. This has created hope to end the global crisis which has led to humanity suffer. The members have called for adopting a global non-profit mechanism to ensure equitable distribution of vaccines, while removing all hurdles that may prevent poor people from getting the vaccine. They also called for ensuring a fair vaccine distribution for refugees and displaced people around the world, who are most likely to be left due to being inaccessible and not able to afford.
The virtual meeting also discussed several projects under the committee in collaboration with its international partners, like the Youth100Faith Project, under the patronage of His Eminence Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, and His Holiness Pope Francis, to engage youth in ensuring Human Fraternity, particularly the Human Fraternity Education and Leadership for Peace project, and various other projects with objective of promoting cooperation for putting in values of coexistence, peace and human fraternity.
