Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has instructed the ERC to extend complete support to orphans who have lost their families in the explosion in Beirut, along with the families of other victims of the blast.
In addition, Sheikh Hamdan has directed the ERC to provide basic aid and assistance to the families in need and help in restoring their homes which were destroyed in the aftermath of the blast.
Through this initiative, the UAE leadership aims to provide for all families who have lost their near and dear ones in the explosion.
Sheikh Hamdan’s instructions emphasis the significant role played by the UAE leadership in addition to the ongoing relief efforts aiming to mitigate the impact of the disaster on the Lebanese population.
Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the ERC, has highlighted that Sheikh Hamdan has been closely monitoring and reviewing the situation on the ground since the explosion and its effects on people, adding that he is regularly communicating with the ERC’s executive management to take account of the progress of relief efforts.
Furthermore, this initiative highlights Sheikh Hamdan’s keenness in assisting the Lebanese citizens affected by the disaster with all possible aid to fulfill their requirements, particularly those in vulnerable categories such as the orphans in the country. Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi also added that the ERC is working in coordination with the Humanitarian Aid Office of the UAE Embassy in Beirut, to take note of the affected orphans and families and prioritise their needs and requirements among other issues.
