Hamdan Bin Mohammed Inaugurates New Dialysis Centre In Al Twar

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, recently inaugurated a new dialysis centre in Al Twar. In addition, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced the opening of a new dialysis centre in Al Barsha.

The new centres are equipped with the latest technologies and in accordance with the best international practices and protocols. Designed to enhance customer convenience, the centres are staffed by highly-qualified medical and administrative personnel to provide the best quality specialised services to all people in need.

The facilities demonstrates the strategy and objective of the Dubai Health Authority to develop integrated medical facilities in the emirate and strengthen health and wellbeing of the community. These efforts are being taken in line with the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

During the inauguration ceremony at the Al Twar dialysis centre, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed was received by Hamad Al Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) along with Awad Saghir Al Ketbi, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority and Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Charitable Work Sector of IACAD.

Addressing the ceremony, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed stressed the significance of specialised health centres in compliance with international standards in Dubai to enhance the safety and protection of the community. It is particularly important in key areas of medical specialisation which are observing increasing demand for healthcare services.

He underlined that the continuous development of the health sector in the emirate is one of the most important goals of the Dubai government. Furthermore, the Crown Prince of Dubai lauded the role played by private sector and associations in the healthcare industry with the aim of supporting the development of medical facilities in Dubai.

Notably, Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) and various leading charities participated in the development of the new dialysis centres in collaboration with the DHA.

The event took place in the presence of a number of officials who provided support to the initiative, including Dr. Muhammad Suhail Al Muhairi, CEO and Managing Director of Dar Al Ber Association; Taher Abdeen, Director General of Beit Al Khair Association; Ahmed Mohamed Mesmar, Secretary of the Dubai Charitable Society; Sharaf El Din Al Sayed Sharaf, member of the Board of Directors of Beit Al Khair Association; Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation, and Musa Tariq Khoury, Director of the Sharia Audit Department at Dubai Islamic Bank.

Awadh Al Ketbi, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, also extended gratitude towards the Crown Prince for his presence at the inauguration of the two new centres.

"His Highness' commitment to ensure Dubai’s healthcare sector stays abreast of global developments in the field inspires all stakeholders and personnel in the sector to work together for its growth," Al Ketbi said.

He further expressed DHA's keenness in fostering partnerships with relevant institutions and members of society to boost the development of the emirate's healthcare sector in line with the vision and directives of Dubai leadership.

Expressing his gratitude towards Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his charity efforts, Hamad Al Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, Director General of IACAD, said that the UAE's humanitarian efforts has made the country one of the most giving nations in the world.

Al Shaibani also extended his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the fulfilment of the initiative, with the aim of strengthening Dubai’s global position as a centre for charitable and humanitarian activities.

The Al Barsha dialysis centre was funded by a generous donation from the sons of the late Abdul Salam Rafiea. It will help patients suffering from kidney failure with regular dialysis along with the provision of preventive medical services in the field of nephrology.

After the event, DHA officials briefed Sheikh Hamdan about the dialysis units, clinics, facilities and services provided by the two new centre at Al Twar and Al Barsha.

Sheikh Hamdan praised the policy of allocating 30 percent of Al Twar dialysis centre's capacity to needy and distressed patients who will be referred to the centre by charitable organisations.

The Al Twar centre is spread over an area of 5,500 sq m with a capacity of 40 beds. On the other hand, Al Barsha dialysis centre is built in 6,000 sq. m with a capacity of 60 beds.
