The Coronavirus outbreak saw the emergence of thousands of frontline heroes across the UAE who played significant roles in the country's successful fight against the pandemic crisis. With their efforts and sacrifices, these frontline heroes protected the community and ensured the safety of all members from the COVID-19 pandemic.
52-year-old nurse Zainab Ahmed Fahim is one such frontline hero who contributed her efforts to the humanitarian mission to protect the community members from the health crisis. She has been serving as a nurse in the UAE's health sector for the past three decades.
The Fakhr Al Watan Office honoured Zainab Ahmed Fahim for her contribution in the fight against the pandemic crisis. This recognition came in line with the Fakhr Al Watan Office's efforts to honour thousands of frontline heroes and acknowledge their distinguished contribution in protecting the health of all people in the national fight against COVID-19.
While speaking to the Office, Fahim hailed the commitment of all nurses across the UAE's health sector to safeguard the lives of the public and the amount of respect they received from patients, their families and other hospital staff during the crisis. She also remembered the moment while sitting next to her father’s bed in the hospital.
"My father told me that angels surround nurses, and he wished that one of his daughters would become a nurse. My sisters specialised in commerce and business while I made his dream come true," Fahim asserted.
Speaking about working during the initial days of the pandemic, Fahim affirmed that she devoted herself to serving virus-infected patients during the Coronavirus outbreak.
"I was extremely shocked at the time, as we never encountered a similar situation, and every day we learned more about this novel disease," she added.
She explained that as soon as the Umm Al Qaiwain Hospital notified her about the first suspected Coronavirus-infected case, she took the necessary procedures to protect the patient.
"I contacted the patient, introduced myself, explained the details of the Coronavirus infection to him, and asked him about the symptoms he was suffering from. He told me he had a fever and that he tested positive, so we had to quarantine him. Thank Allah Almighty for his recovery," Fahim added.
