Under the directives of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Frontline Heroes Office has launched a new initiative with the aim of providing expanded medical insurance coverage to all underprivileged frontline heroes and their immediate families in the UAE.
Named "Frontline Heroes Insurance Top-Up Programme," the initiative has been launched by the Frontline Heroes Office in partnership with the National Health Insurance Company-Daman, leading health insurance specialist in the UAE. The initiative will benefit around 10,000 eligible professionals enrolled in the office’s registry with expanded coverage. They will also receive benefits similar to Daman’s "Enhanced Sahtak" - a health insurance plan offered by the company to expatriate employees of the Abu Dhabi Government. The initiative starts on February 1.
Speaking about the initiative, Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of the Office, asserted that the initiative has been launched in line with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed's vision to protect the health and wellbeing of the country's frontline heroes. He added that it is Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed's belief that the health and welfare of the UAE's frontline heroes is the responsibility of the nation.
"These brave men and women have cared for and protected the health and safety of the people of the UAE throughout this pandemic, and we owe a deep appreciation to them and their families," he added.
The programme was designed in accordance with the results of a survey that involved more than 8,000 frontline professionals working in various healthcare facilities and entities responsible for sanitisation and prevention across the UAE.
With an extensive experience in developing and managing similar insurance expansion programme from government-funded initiatives, Daman will also be administering and monitoring the initiative in partnership with the Frontline Heroes Office. As part of the initiative, Daman will be working directly with employers in order to identify and register frontline professionals eligible for the programme. Eligible frontline heroes will be identified on the basis of a range of criteria designed by the office.
The frontline heroes receive a number of benefits under the 12-month top-up programme, including covering deductible and co-insurance for beneficiaries that are already present in existing health insurance such as consultations and pharmaceuticals. In addition, those who have plans with annual pharmaceutical coverage limits will receive an extended coverage of up to AED3,000 if their limit is over.
Daman Chairman Khaled bin Shaiban Almehairi also expressed pride in being selected by the office to work on the programme that aims to protect frontline heroes and their families.
"Everyone in Daman is incredibly honoured at having the opportunity to appreciate the brave individuals and their families who have prioritised the community of our beloved country. They have spared no effort in their work, and we are committed to doing the same as part of the programme," he added.
For frontline heroes' ease, Daman has also set up a dedicated customer service team which will reach out to qualified frontline professionals with the aim of enrolling them in the top-up programme and informing them about its expanded benefits.
Frontline heroes and their families can get more information about the programme or check if they registered in the Office’s database by directly contacting the Office at: "[email protected]."
