Etihad Airways on Monday announced that all passengers flying from the United Kingdom will be required to present a negative PCR test with a validity of 72 hours from their flight departure time, with effect from December 24. In line with an announcement made by the National Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), Etihad released a statement asserting that it is the only airline in the world that is requiring a negative PCR test from 100 percent of its passengers before their travel and again upon their arrival into Abu Dhabi. The decision has been taken to protect fellow passengers from COVID-19 virus and ensure peace of mind for all on board.
Furthermore, Etihad has maintained that PCR tests must be conducted at a government accredited medical facility. The airline has suggested a number of government-accredited facilities at his facilities.
Passengers are required to show evidence of the date and time when the COVID-19 PCR test was performed during check-in at the airport. For instance, they can present the details of their appointment confirmation as evidence. Meanwhile, children under the age of 12 and people with severe and moderate disabilities have been exempted from presenting a COVID-19 PCR test certificate.
The airline's health and safety programme "Etihad Wellness" has ensured that the highest standards of hygiene have been maintained by the authorities at every stage to protect the health and wellbeing of every guest. In this regard, the airline has introduced specially-trained Wellness Ambassadors, a first in the industry, to assist passengers with the necessary travel health care and information on the ground and on every flight.
As part of the Etihad Wellness programme, the airline has covered global COVID-19 insurance for all passengers travelling with Etihad.
