On the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day on August 28, Minister of Community Development Hessa Essa Buhumaid has said that the support and guidance of the UAE leadership towards Emirati women have yielded significant results for her aspirations and empowerment. Celebrating the occasion, Buhumaid released a statement saying that the UAE leadership have been supporting women in every way possible which have generated results on a regular basis.

Under the directives issued by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, in May, this year's Emirati Women’s Day is being celebrated under the slogan "Preparing for the next fifty years: Women are the support of the nation."
This year's slogan also observes the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to celebrate 2020 as the year of preparations for the next 50 years.
In her statement, the Minister stated that today's Emirati women are performing all forms of responsibilities varying from family to national with their loyalty towards the nation, adding that they will gain more achievements in the next years with their continuous efforts.
"Emirati women today perform all their national, developmental, family and educational responsibilities with loyalty to the nation; we all look forward to the next 50 years with more work, achievements and accomplishments," she added.
Buhumaid further highlighted that Emirati women make up one-third of the cabinet members, half the members of the Federal National Council, and 32 percent of all applicants for the UAE Astronaut Programme in its second phase. In conclusion, she said that with almost 1,400 Emirati women participating in various key sectors of the government, these figures and indicators illustrate a distant future of empowerment and leadership for Emirati women.
