Emirates airline has announced the resumption of direct daily flights from Dubai to London Gatwick in December. As per a statement issued by Emirates, daily flights will operate on a B777 aircraft from December 10.
It will offer First, Business and Economy class services to the passengers. Flights will depart from Dubai International Airport at 7.40am and arrive at London Gatwick at 11.40am. Similarly, return flights will leave Gatwick at 1.35pm to arrive in Dubai at 12.40am the following day.
With the updated services, the Dubai airline's UK routes has increased to a total of six destinations. Significantly, London Gatwick has become Emirates' second gateway in the British capital since the resumption of flight services.
As of now, Emirates is operating six daily flights on routes to London Heathrow, two daily flights to Manchester in the north west of England, 10 weekly flights to Birmingham in the Midlands, four weekly flights to Newcastle in the north east of England and daily flights to Glasgow, Scotland.
According to Emirates, it will operate 84 weekly flights to the UK by the end of December. Adnan Kazim, Emirates chief commercial officer, expressed delight in the resumption of regular flights to and from London Gatwick with the aim of offering more ways to its passengers and businesses to connect with its diversifying global network. He highlighted that the airline is witnessing a major surge in the demand for flights as people are more confident in planning their foreign travel.
"With the UK simplifying travel and accepting international vaccination certificates, we've seen a big surge in demand as people have been a lot more confident in booking trips for the coming months and further ahead, be it for business, a winter sun escape or to visit family and friends. Gatwick has long been a valued partner for Emirates and we look forward to welcoming passengers back onboard an Emirates flight soon," Kazim said.
The development has come in line with the UK government's announcement to accept vaccination certificates from 55 countries including the UAE with effect from October 4. As per latest protocols, vaccinated passengers arriving in the country are no longer required to undergo quarantine regulations.
Stephen King, head of airline relations at Gatwick Airport, also welcomed the resumption of Emirates flight services to Gatwick in December with delight.
"Emirates has been a hugely popular airline for Gatwick passengers and it's fantastic that we are once again able to offer passengers across London and the South East the opportunity to connect with Dubai and beyond," King said.
Emirates has priced the return flights to Gatwick starting from Dh2,305.
