On Thursday, the Emirates and Etihad Airlines has announced resumption of the flights from Bangladesh’s Dhaka to UAE’s Abu Dhabi and Dubai as the final destination. A good news for UAE citizens in Bangladesh as they were in a fix after UAE had lifted flight restrictions in August because Bangladesh airports lacked rapid Covid-19 test facility.
A fresh travel update is available on the websites of Dubai-based Emirates and Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways said that flights between Dhaka and UAE are now operational. Emirates has now removed Bangladesh from its list of countries that lack rapid PCR testing facilities at the airports.
'Flights between Dhaka and Abu Dhabi have resumed, restrictions are in place on certain countries. If your final destination is Abu Dhabi, register via the ICA app or at ica.gov.ae. This does not apply if you are transiting or you are a UAE national," Etihad announced on its website.
Emirates posted on its website, “For passengers travelling to Dubai as their final destination from Nigeria and Zambia travel is currently not possible as there are no rapid PCR testing facilities at the airport.”
The UAE authorities had relaxed some Covid-19 rules to help return of stranded residents, including UAE citizens and residents stuck in Bangladesh. However, it is required for passengers to produce a test result conducted at the airport within six hours of departure. A number of Bangladeshi nationals returning to the UAE are taking route through third countries where they spend the quarantine period.
