As the UAE celebrates the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) has urged the public to comply with necessary precautionary protocols aimed at containing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ADP warned the community members about the risks of violating precautionary measures such as not practicing physical distancing with other people in public.
The ADP stressed the importance of following protocols and avoiding organising or attending social gatherings, meetings, and celebrations at public areas or private ranches across the emirate.
The ADP also underlined the need for avoiding social traditions during Eid Al Fitr celebrations, such as visiting elderly people and people with chronic illnesses, noting that it could endanger their health and safety. The police further urged families to exchange Eid greetings through electronic means such as phone or via social media.
The ADP maintained that violators of precautionary measures will be subject to legal action, including fines of AED10,000 for hosting a social event and AED5,000 for those attending the event.
The ADP extended congratulatory wishes to everyone on the happy occasion of Eid Al Fitr, encouraging them to cooperate and support the efforts of relevant authorities who are working constantly to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The ADP also encouraged the public to report any violations such as social gatherings or celebrations by contacting the Aman service on the free toll number "8002626" or by sending an SMS on "2828" or email at "[email protected]."
