Mohammed bin Rashid visits COVID-19 Command and Control Centre

On Saturday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, paid visit to Dubai's Covid-19 Command and Control Centre and applauded the effort of the medical team in combating the deadly virus. The Dubai Ruler met the medical staff at the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences.

In a statement from Dubai Prime Minister issued by Dubai Media Office, he praised the efforts frontline workers and announced that the UAE has “succeeded in countering the COVID-19 outbreak, setting an example for the world in managing the pandemic”.

During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai; Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chancellor of Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences; Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai's Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management; Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and senior officials from public and private hospitals.

Sheikh Mohammed said that UAE was able to successfully beat the COVID-19 outbreak and in the process set a “commendable example” for the world in managing the pandemic. He also affirmed that it was the nation’s “scientific approach in combating the virus”, as well as the “planning and collaborative spirit by frontline organisations” which helped to combat the virus and has turned a “crisis into an opportunity”.

He added, “[The] heroic efforts of healthcare workers during the COVID-19 crisis are a source of pride and inspiration for us. We thank them for their commitment and professionalism and urge them to continue working with the same spirit of dedication.”

A week ago Dubai’s ruler took to Twitter to announce that the UAE would be working with 67 training and academic institutions and 140 experts across the globe to train one million medics around the world. This new initiative would be led under the supervision of Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. The initiative aims at providing specialised distance training to the medical staff and frontline workers including the ones belonging to ambulance fields.
